Externally
Sponsored Research

This information is intended for potential investigators/sponsors of research in the United States only. For research interest outside of the United States, please contact [email protected], and we will direct you to the appropriate collaboration partner.

Types of Externally Sponsored Research

Arcus Biosciences is committed to supporting external scientific and clinical research to advance and improve outcomes for people with cancer. As part of this commitment, the Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) program supports clinical studies that address important scientific questions related to our investigational medicines and therapeutic areas of interest.
We support both Investigator Sponsored Trials and Collaborative Research.

Investigator Sponsored Trials (ISTs) are unsolicited, independent research where the study sponsor is an investigator or institution outside of Arcus (academic, private, or governmental), and Arcus provides support in the form of study drug and/or funding.

Collaborative Research is where the study sponsor is an investigator or institution outside of Arcus. However, Arcus can be involved in Collaborative Research beyond providing study drug and/or funding. This involvement is specific to each study and may include involvement in study design, protocol development, analysis of data/biological samples, and/or publication development & authorship.

Submission Process

The Arcus Biosciences submission portal is open for study proposal submissions, application status inquiries, and ongoing study updates.

Review Process

IST and Collaborative Research concepts & proposals are reviewed by Arcus medical and scientific personnel and decisions are based on scientific merit, alignment with strategic interest, and study drug/funding availability. The budget must be reasonable and appropriate for the proposed work. We evaluate applications considering the expertise of the principal investigator, including their proficiency in the relevant therapeutic field, experience in conducting successful clinical trials, and available resources.

Arcus has an established collaboration with Gilead Sciences for domvanalimab, quemliclustat, etrumadenant, and zimberelimab. All concepts and proposals with these agents will be jointly reviewed by Arcus and Gilead.

If a proposal is awarded support, the study sponsor will have full discretion and responsibility for all aspects of study design, implementation, analysis, data dissemination and compliance with relevant laws. The terms of Arcus’s support will be outlined in a written agreement, and a detailed budget will be requested for fair market value assessment.
